Miguel and Alejandro Barrionuevo

The Malagan-born Spaniard discovered his passion for riding and the Baroque horse as a young child. He is well-known beyond the borders of his homeland for his light, delicate method of riding. He started lessons with Don Luis Ramos Paul in Seville, and honed his skills with the great masters, Nuño Oliveria and Luis Valenca in Portugal.

At APASSIONATA this year, he will be delighting audiences with his Spanish riding skills on monumental platforms, while his son Alejandro will be presenting a “Fire Garrocha”.

For the Barrionuevo family, the horse is always at the heart of their performances, and they give it the space and freedom to be an artist. However, the animals' trust in human beings is just as important. “What makes our horses so special is their lightness, flexibility and harmony. The close connection between rider and horse is a success, and progress in riding.”
